Soft-tissue augmentation , commonly referred to as dermal filler treatment, reduces facial lines and improves contour defects by temporarily restoring volume to the dermis and soft tissue through the use of injectable products. With the use of appropriate techniques  and volumes ,dermal filler treatments can enhance appearance in subtle, natural way. Treatments require short recovery times and can be safely performed in the outpatient setting.

Numerous dermal fillers are available  each varying in composition, duration and action, palpability, ease of administration, complications, and other factors.

Pre-treatment checklist:

For one week prior to treatment for all injectables, you should avoid taking:

  • Aspirin
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication
  • St John’s Wort
  • High doses of vitamin E supplement

These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Dynamic lines: are the lines formed because of repeated muscle contraction. Ideal treatments for those lines are Botox injections. Static lines are formed without the influence of muscle contraction and they are present while at rest. Some causative factors of static lines development are: sun exposure, smoking and gravitation. Ideal treatment for static lines are dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers products can be categorized based on their duration of action as either short acting (less than 4 months), long acting (6 months to 1 year), semipermanent (1 to 2 years) and permanent (2 years or more)
